ROUND THE HOUSE - Crosley Record Players

Finding a vintage record player that works is getting harder and harder...and once you have one it often occurs to you that it would cool to be able to get your record onto your computer so you can have it as an MP3.  In walks the Crosley line of record players.  With features like cd player/burners, MP3 upload ability, and some even come with cassette players, all between $90 and $400.  The clincher for me, they are styled to look vintage.  With looks ranging form turn of the century to the 80's, you will find one to fit your decor and style.

Crosley also features vintage style phones, radios, headphones, and even jukeboxes.

ART, OR SOMETHING LIKE IT - JICK plays Electric Forest

JICK are in Rothbury, Michigan to play the Electric Festival June 27th - 30th.

JICK is one of many projects for Eleanor, of Dead Girlfriends fame...

I know what you are thinking...why didn't you post this sooner...well, 1) if you were going to a 3 day music festival in another state, you knew about it already; 2) I'm lame.

So anyway, there you go, local band playing 3 day music fest in the woods.

INSPIRATION BOARD WEDNESDAY - Little Beauties

This week's inspiration is a little more of an obsession and a fascination. These little girls are what I would imagine when I would hear stories as a child like The Secret Garden and Peter Pan. Amazing kelly green trees with little Diaphanous fairies flitting about, with their long silken tendrils hanging about their face like they had just come in from the most gentle mist.

HELL YEAH OHIO - ComFest is on it's way...again... and again...

Ugh, ComFest.  That is what comes to mind these days when I think of the annual Community Festival.  It used to be this deal where a bunch of people would go and sit around in the shade on blankets and drink with the friends they hadn't seen since last ComFest and listen to generally lame music in a park then go make the rounds at all the tents and buy some hippie jewelry while signing petitions.  Very mellow.  Now, ugh...it's a nightmare.  So many people, the prices have become outrageous...you can't even find your friends anymore.  They only up side is that they are finally showcasing some bands/musicians that aren't some 55 year old's weekend hippie "what if we had made it back then" dreams (eyeroll).  I will not be attending...but apparently everyone else will.

Oh, the Hell Yeah Ohio part is that it is one of the largest festivals of it's type in the country and has had only one instance of recorded violence in 40 years (and that was self-inflicted...um bath salts are dumb).  It takes place this coming weekend at Goodale Park June 28 - 30, 2013.

EAT IT! - Blueberries

Blueberries are good for your brain, they fight cancer...and top cranberries in urinary tract health
