ROUND THE HOUSE - Re-furbishing Found Furniture

In the past few weeks I have had several neighbors moving.  Put this together with the fact that I have lost the vast majority of my furniture due to a pretty lame breakup with a pretty lame guy and you end up with me being all too happy to have scored (so far) 3 book shelves, 2 tables, and a floor lamp.

When we moved in I had one large bookshelf, a microwave cart, a desk, a full size mattress and bedsprings, a twin size mattress, a couch/futon, 1 lamp, 2 end tables, and  a cool, retro record player that doesn't work.  I didn't even have a dresser or microwave.

I acquired a microwave that quickly died and was replaced by another used one.  I purchased a chest of drawers and a bookshelf for my daughter's room with tax return money.  I also bought a vacuum cleaner and a desk chair.

The furniture I've otherwise come into possession doesn't all fit into the scheme or style I'm going for but are structurally sound and have good "bones".  I thing some painting is really all they need to fit in.

On the list:
 - medium size free-standing bookshelf
 - large bookshelf I had in the beginning
 - 2 small free-standing "media shelves"
 - 2 IKEA end tables
 - microwave cart
 - possibly parts of the record console piece.

I'll be posting updates here as they happen.
